New
cultivars:
Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
This cultivar,
acquired from a Pennsylvania nursery 25 years ago
remains almost unknown. We like it very much for its unusual color.
Somewhat similar to 'Hogokyu' in summer color
and habit, with sturdy
palmate leaves that are medium-dark green. Spring color and new
growth is a unique yellow-brown. Fall color is a good orange. Leaves
are less leathery than 'Hogokyu', rounder, and larger. A full
shrub to 12-15'.

#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
