Tiger Rose

New cultivars:

Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until the following spring.

Heat Stress:

Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time.

Leaves on this cultivar emerge with a rose overlay on a light green leaf. The color changes to a creamy almost-white in summer, then to yellow-orange in autumn. The leaves are deeply incised, serrate, and reticulated. Like many variegates of this type (Aka shigatatsu sawa, Peaches and Cream), the color combinations may vary considerably with exposure, soil, climate, and cultivation. A dwarf that may reach 6-10' high and 2/3 as wide.

Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.

Size #3 trees are available beginning in September, and can be ordered until March. They are shipped bare-root. These trees are in limited supply; many cultivars are not avilable in this size.
Orders placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter, but read this to see if it's a good idea for you.
