Tsukushigata

The deep red-black, star-shaped leaves are a definite eyecatcher on
this 15', round-topped tree. Perhaps the darkest of all the red uprights
(but see 'Lozita' also), it holds its color well through the summer, with
some edging toward dark green on the leaves that are shaded. Spring
leaves emerge wine-red, deepinging to black red, then change to
scarlet in fall. A nice bonus is the beautiful chartreuse seeds that are
spectacular against the dark foliage. Rare and choice.
