New cultivars: Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until the following spring. |
Heat Stress: Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time. |

A slender, upright, vase-shaped tree to 10-15', with sharply-pointed, star-shaped leaves and layered branches. In spring, the sturdy-looking leaves have red tips, with the color extending partway along the margins, and in fall they take on some of the most intense gold, orange, and crimson tones of any cultivar. The initially upright, then cascading habit is also distinctive. Rare. Similar and possibly identical to 'Shigarami'. Size
#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April. |

Size
#3 trees are available beginning in September, and can be ordered
until March. They are shipped bare-root. These trees are in limited supply;
many cultivars are not avilable in this size..
|
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
