Stephania
rotundifolia

There isn't much information available about this plant, but, if you are the right sort of person, here's all you need to know: 1) it's rare, and 2) it has a large tuber that sits half on top of the ground. For those of you who don't know, there are collectors of caudiciform plants who have a passion for these two characteristics. The tuber in this case is globular, and out of its top emerges a vine with rotundly heart-shaped foliage and eventually producing flowers which are described in various places as red, white, and yellow-green. We haven't seen it flower yet, but suspect the red refers to its berries and that the flower is white, tinged green. Vines have grown quickly to 8' in our greenhouse and showed no sign of stopping.
