Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
Growers sometimes number seedlings that they are watching to see if they develop into trees that merit naming as a new cultivar. In this case, the grower decided it did, but never got around to giving the cultivar a name, so it's still known as '6910' or '6910 Holland', as it's a Dutch introduction.
A small tree to under 10', it has leaves similar in shape to 'Aureum', with yellow-green spring color, followed by a medium green in summer, then orange with yellow and red highlights in fall.
