New
cultivars:
Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
Not to be confused with 'Aka shigitatsu sawa' (Red Shigitatsu sawa), this cultivar sticks to yellows and greens, and is an old-timer, dating from the early 1800s. It's a slow-growing dwarf, reaching about 5', with leaves that may be called white or light green or yellow, with prominent green venation. A shade lover that may lose the light color and intricate vein structure if grown in too much sun. The name may mean "snipe, quacking, fly up from a swamp", or it may be an old place name. We fervently hope it's the former.

Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
