Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

Not to be confused
with Aka shigitatsu sawa (Red Shigitatsu sawa), this cultivar
sticks to yellows and greens, and is an old-timer, dating from the early
1800s. It's a slow-growing dwarf, reaching about 5', with leaves that
may be called white or light green or yellow, with prominent green venation.
A shade lover that may lose the light color and intricate vein structure
if grown in too much sun. The name may mean "snipe,
quacking, fly up from a swamp", or it may be an old place name.
We fervently hope it's the former. |

Size
#2 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. Starting in November,
they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very
limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.

Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
