Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
Spring leaves have red fingernails like 'Tsuma gaki', then become glossy green for the summer, except for the purple new growth. In the fall, the leaves display the full palette of autumn leaf color, from gold through orange to red. A nice small tree to 10-12', with a unique narrow, upright, layered habit. Similar, if not identical, to 'Tana'.
Size
#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you.
