New cultivars and larger sizes: We
now introduce new and selected rare cultivars in Sept., rather than with
previously-offered cultivars in spring.
|
|
Heat Stress: Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time. |

The mother of all Japanese maples. This is the tree onto which all cultivars are grafted. It contains tremendous genetic diversity, giving rise to all manner of shapes, colors, and growth habits in its offspring. Still, the vast majority of its children look just like this. A handsome tree in itself, it is also what you want for understock if you're grafting. More tolerant of sun and cold than many varieties. |

You
can order new grafts (size #1) anytime after Jan. 1, but we don't ship
them until after they leafed out, usually around mid-April.
|
We
ship with the US Postal Service. Shipping of more than 6 trees to postal
zones 5 and higher may incur a shipping surcharge that will not show up
in your shopping cart.
