New
cultivars:
Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
A cultivar with
unusual variegation that clings mainly to the
the edges of the leaf lobes. Though regarded by many as a
beautiful cultivar, it shows why variegation might be regarded
as the result of a virus. The lobe margins are pink in spring,
then, as the leaf assumes its summer medium green color, they
become bright yellow, often spottily. The tree grows to 9-12',
fairly vigorous at first, then slowing. Needs afternoon
shade to protect the tender leaf margins.

#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you.
