For reasons made crystal clear by the photographs, the name of this dwarf cultivar means "dragon's head". It is a slow grower to between 6 and 12', perfect for bonsai or container planting, being much-branched with very short internodes. In fact, it is so popular for bonsai that in the past our small stock has sold out quickly. The leaves are small and mainly pale green, but overlaid on new growth by a faint pink. The marked serrations on the leaves are frequently bright red. Fall color consists of golds and yellows.
