New
cultivars:
Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
A very interesting new cultivar from Kobayashi Nursery in Japan, with a radically weeping habit. Similar, to 'Jiro Shidare' and from the same nursery, but differs in that the branches emerge at a 45-degree angle and then weep dramatically, straight down, just a few inches from the trunk. Best planted on a steep slope or above a wall, or else trained upright before being allowed to weep. It's hard to specify a height on this tree, since this will depend on training. Green in summer with excellent orange-to-red fall color. The name indicates some kind of dragon, probably "ground dragon"; the branches will definitely be draggin' on the ground. Plant Patent 1850.

service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
