New cultivars:

Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until the following spring.

Heat Stress

Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

Known as the weeping willow of Japanese maples, this cultivar
represents a group with leaves that are deeply divided, but not
narrowly-lobed like the dissectums. They are also not mounding
shrubs like dissectums, but upright trees that weep at the ends of
their branches. The trees in the photographs are too young to show
this habit well, but the effect has been described as the branches
forming a curtain around the tree. The tree may reach 15-25' in
many years, and the crown may be nearly as wide. The summer
color is a bright green, and fall color is an excellent gold and
crimson mix.

Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.

Size #3 trees are available beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. They are shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.

Orders placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter, but read this to see if it's a good idea for you.
