Nuresagi (Wet Heron)

New cultivars:

Some newly-offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out, around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until the following spring.

Heat Stress:

Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time.

I think 'Sagi Heron' would be a good compromise between
the Japanese and English names. The leaves on this tree are
about the same color as those of 'Bloodgood', and have some
of 'Moonfire's blue opalescent quality in certain light. It's a
formal or refined form compared to the above. The leaves
are smaller, and although usually holding their color well,
may have some greening in the hottest part of summer.
'Nuresagi' is a hardy and vigorous tree, though lacy and
delicate in appearance, lighter and airier than 'Bloodgood'.

Bark develops white striations similar to Snakebark maples.
Fine bright red fall color. It should grow to around 20'.

Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.

Size #3 trees are available beginning in September, and can be ordered until March 1. They are shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.
We ship with the US Postal Service. Shipping of more than 6 trees to postal zones 5 and higher may incur a shipping surcharge that will not show up in your shopping cart.
