Nerine
(Guernsey
Lily)

|
| While
most Nerine species have broad, straplike leaves, Nerine filifolia
has leaves that are threadlike and grassy. The plant is also smaller
than common species, to about 8", and with smaller flowers, so the
effect is much more delicate than that of its larger cousins. The flowers
are about 1" across, light pink, and with wavy-margined sepals, produced
in autumn. The leaves on this plant are replaced as old ones fade, so it
is nearly evergreen in most climates.
