Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
A rare Cutleaf Vine Maple, from the Oregon Cascades, 'Monroe' is a wide-spreading small tree, 6-10' in ten years, perhaps 15' overall, with an equal spread. Doubly-dissected leaves give it an open, airy habit, especially in deep shade, and will be more compact in sun, where it will also thrive if adequately irrigated. To take full advantage of its laciness and color, place it in dappled shade. Vine maples are especially valuable for their fall color in shaded situations.
