now introduce new and selected rare cultivars in Sept., rather than with
previously-offered cultivars in spring.
Size #2 trees are also available for ordering only after Sept. 1.
Heat Stress:
Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time.
Characterized by its black-red summer leaves that serve as a backdrop for rose-red new growth, 'Lozita' is otherwise similar to 'Bloodgood', but is a smaller tree, to about 15', and has even darker leaves. Excellent scarlet fall color and purple leaf petioles are bonus features. A compact grower that works well in containers.
Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.
