Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

Ah, another harp. 'Hime' means literally 'Princess' but here indicates a dwarf. This has among the smallest leaves of any cultivar, measuring only half to three- quarters of an inch across on old wood (larger on new). They are palmate, red at first, with a little green at the centers, then become light green in summer, yellow and orange in fall. It will grow to 5' in your dreams, very suitable for bonsai, growing upright and very twiggy. We received this tree as 'Goshiki kotohime', but this somewhat variegated form is known to revert. Since we see no variegation on our trees, we think it best to call them just "Kotohime'. |

Size
#2 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. Starting in November,
they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very
limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.

Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
