Heat Stress:
Mild temperatures are best for shipping and planting. Maples ordered in summer may have browned leaves, but this is only temporary. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. Fall is the preferred time for planting; spring is the next best time.
Formerly called 'Koreanum', this is a vigorous tree to about 15' with light green leaves in summer and an excellent orange, yellow, and red fall display. In addition, the mature bark is very dark, adding to winter interest, and the new stems are bright red, adding summer color. From a Korean, not Japanese, ancestry, this is a beautiful tree that is still quite rare, though introduced in the UK in the 1950s.
