New
cultivars:
Some newly offered cultivars MAY be added to our list after they leaf out
around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars,
may be added in September. Once a cultivar sells out, it remains so until
the following spring.
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.
I don't know what's come over us that we'd offer a cultivar with a name like this. It must be from the Wise Acre nursery, down the road from the Kozy Korner, the Kopper Kettle, and the Dew Drop Inn. Actually, I hear it was introduced by the Stupka Nursery in Poulski, Pennsylvania. Stay away from there. Nevertheless, it's a great, dare I say classy? tree. Leaves emerge pink, then become purple-red, greening somewhat in summer. It's a compact, dwarf, rounded shrub to 6', with quite small leaves that turn orange-red in fall.

#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April.
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you.
