Kagiri nishiki

A cultivar similar to 'Butterfly' with bluegreen leaves edged in
cream, but larger and faster-growing, less twiggy, and more
upright. It has pink in the mature leaves, and not, like 'Butterfly'
just on new growth, giving it the synonym 'Roseo mariginatum',
a name that has been more frequently, but erroneously, applied to 'Higasayama'. 'Kagiri nishiki' may grow to 15-20' in time.
In the fall, the rose and pink leaf edges turn crimson. In
cultivation in Japan since the early 1700s and in Europe
since the mid-1800s. Reverted branches should be
removed.
