Juncus effusus spiralis Corkscrew Rush |
|
|
A
plant that is just about as outrageous as a plant can get on planet Earth.
Long, dark green curls, spirals, and coils of rush-like leaves explode
out from the center of this clumping marsh plant. Youll have a lot
of explaining to do to your friends concerning what exactly you did to
this plant to make it the way it is. Effective in deep containers that
are kept permanently boggy, or in up to 3" of water. I'ts hard to
describe the size, as it grows sort of all over the place, but 18"
tall by 2' wide is a fair guess. Zone 6.

'Unicorn' is a variety that has clearly taken its vitamins; the stems are much thicker and bolder than on the species, above, and won't be overlooked. It's a question of scale; if you need something to hold its own among other vigorous plants, this may be the one you want.
Juncus 'Unicorn' 2 qt. pot $10.00 |

The foliage on this variety (we don't know its name, if it has one) is midway in size between the species and the 'Unicorn' variety, and is distinguished by its very attractive blue-grey color. If you can't decide which variety is right for your garden, maybe you need all three!
