Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

A strong-growing cultivar similar to 'Garnet', but with a more upright habit. Wine-red leaves hold their color well in summer and are described as sturdier and more substantial than most laceleafs. May ultimately reach 10', and somewhat wider. Vertrees recounts that the name derives from the Japanese names for an old variety of rice plant that turns crimson in the fall, along with 'shidare', which means 'cascading'. Although priced as a size #1, this and other well-known laceleafs are actually comparable to size #2 in most varieties. Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April. |

Size
#3 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. They are shipped bare-root
to save shipping costs. These trees are in very limited supply; many cultivars
are not available in this size. |
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
