Stress
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

This tree changes every time you look at it. The striped leaf is a springtime phenomenon, and it won't stay that way all year, no matter how much you like it. Also, the tree will produce long new shoots on which the leaves may look entirely different. Never mind, they will probably revert back to type in their second year. If they don't, they should be removed. There are some compensations, such as the fact that the leaf buds are themselves quite spectacular, something you don't get on every cultivar. Also, in the fall, the cream-colored parts of the leaves will change to an orange or red color. All this variety is on a tree that may reach 20', with a very unique appearance. As with almost all variegates, afternoon shade is recommeded to prevent leaf scorch. Size
#1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April. |

Size
#3 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. They are shipped bare-root
to save shipping costs. These trees are in very limited supply; many cultivars
are not available in this size. |
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
