(Transvaal Bottlebrush)

Interesting shrub or small tree from South Africa, with large, nearly round, velvety leaves, bright red bottlebrush flowers, and gnarled trunk and branches. Used for bonsai despite naturally large leaves because they will miniaturize readily when the roots are restrained. Grows to 6-12' in the ground in zone 10.
