Filigree

New cultivars and larger sizes: Many newly grafted cultivars are added to our list after they leaf out around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, are added in September.
|
Heat Stress: Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F. |

Although
professional growers call this "green filigree" to distinguish
it from red
cultivars with similar names, the registered name is simply 'Filigree'. The light green leaf is larger than those on most dissectums, but is very dissected, so the appearance is quite lacy. The leaf is very subtly variegated with tiny white dots, especially along the leaf edges, contributing to its delicate look. A slow-growing type that might make 6' in 50 years, it has good orange fall color. It is best sited to protect it from harsh afternoon sun. |

#2 trees are available beginning September 1, and can be ordered until
March 1. Starting in November, they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping
costs.
