Exocoecaria cochinchinensis 'Rain Storm' Also called 'Chinese Croton', this is a colorful Asian shrub growing to 2-3', with leaves that are glossy green on top and bright wine red on the bottom, both readily visible. A tropical plant that, unless you live in the very warmest climate, needs to be a high-light houseplant during the winter and does well outdoors in a pot or hanging basket during summer. A member of the Euphorbia family, so the sap can be irritating t0 skin and eyes, hence the common name. |

Exocoecaria cochinchinensis 'Fire Storm' goes the above variety one better in terms of colorfulness; this variegated version is green, grey-green, white, and cream on top, and has the same bright wine-red underside. About as variegated as plants get. Tender and with irritating sap like its cousin above. |
