Many newly grafted cultivars are added to our list after they leaf out around mid-April. Others, including small, rare, and hard to graft cultivars, are added in September.

Heat Stress:

Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

A rather remarkable new cultivar and one of our favorites. Deep green and very lacy, 'Emerald Lace' is also extremely vigorous and hardy. It develops unusually long branches, that are radically weeping, with an open habit. It will crawl along the ground if you let it, but can also be staked to good effect. A fast grower, it may reach 10'x10' in 10 years. As a bonus, the fall color, usually yellow in green laceleafs, is bright burgundy red in this cultivar.

Size #2 trees are available beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. Starting in November, they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping costs

Orders placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant.
