Diospyros

An
evergreen shrub or small tree from South Africa, this relative of our
Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) has odd, bell-shaped flowers,
followed by dark blue fruits. Small, densely hairy, pointed leaves that
have been compared to those of Callistemon, though I can't see it. 6-9'.
Considered a zone 9 plant, to a minimum of 15F, although we have found
another South African species surprisingly hardy in zone 8. Unusual bonsai
candidate.
