Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a prettier tree when newly leafed-out in the spring. This extreme red upright dwarf.is a thrillingly beautiful tree, but tends to be high maintenance, wimpy, and suicidal. Very shy-rooted. Needs well-drained soil and air. A container candidate. Not recommended for the novice or faint of heart, yet always in great demand. A twiggy, dense shrub which, if it lives to be very old, should attain a height of about 6'. Give it a sheltered spot. |

Size
#2 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. Starting in November,
they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very
limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.

Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
