Stress
Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a prettier tree when newly leafed-out in the spring. This coral-red upright dwarf is a beautiful tree, but, in the view of some growers, tends to be high maintenance, wimpy, and suicidal. We used to agree, but lately have found it pretty hardy, if slow-growing, given good drainage and a sheltered spot. Perhaps not for the novice or faint of heart, yet always in great demand. A twiggy, dense shrub which, if should attain a height of about 6', but not anytime soon. Like others of this type, the pink spring growth gives way to red edging, then dark green in summer. Size #1 trees ship after they leaf out, usually early to mid-April. |

Size
#3 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. They are shipped bare-root
to save shipping costs. These trees are in very limited supply; many cultivars
are not available in this size. |
Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
