Over-the-top as the common name might be, this shrub pretty much lives up to it. It can be stunning from a distance when covered in bloom, and equally enthralling close up, both in flower and, following that, in fruit. The floral display begins in July or August, and the show, including the fruit, continues into October. Grows naturally as a 10-15, ovten multi-stemmed shrub that is nearly as wide as tall, but can be trained as a tree. Zones 7-9. China.
