If
you live in California, Arizona, Texas, or Florida, you can stop reading
now, as we cannot send Citrus-family plants to these states,
due to regulations aimed at preventing Citrus pests and diseases from
doing economically significant damage. Since these are the only states
where edible Citrus will reliably fruit outdoors, our offerings are
cold-hardy varieties that are not edible and edible varieties that
must be grown under cover.

Citrus
junos is native to China, but mainly cultivated in Japan, where
it is known as Yuzu. Both the acid fruit and fragrant rind are
highly prized for use in drinks, flavorings, perfumes, and endless cosmetics.
The tree may be anywhere from 6' to 20' tall, and the fruit ripens in
the fall, earlier than most Citrus. The fruit looks like a tangerine,
and the leaf is interestingly compound, the larger leaflet being connected
to the stem by a smaller one. We have found no hardiness information
ourselves, and presumed it was a zone 9 plant, but it's been reported
to us that Sunset's Citrus Book lists Yuzu as hardy to 0F.) Very trendy
among the gourmet set.
