Maples ordered in summer may have burned leaves, and look bad, but this is only temporary. Still, spring and especially fall are far better times to ship and plant than summer. We'll delay shipments when temperatures exceed 90 F.

Notable mainly
for its flaming early spring foliage and later scarlet new growth that
contrasts with the deep green on mature leaves. It flares up again in
the fall. A fairly large and vigorous cultivar to 12', it nevertheless
has short internodes and so is useful for bonsai. This trait also makes
it difficult to propagate, though. There are varying opinions as to
what this tree should be called, there being more than one cultivar
that is at least sometimes called 'Bonfire', so look at the picture. |

Size
#2 trees are available
beginning September 1, and can be ordered until March 1. Starting in November,
they can be shipped bare-root to save shipping costs. These trees are in very
limited supply; many cultivars are not available in this size.

Orders
placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster
service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. We can ship in winter,
but read this to see if
it's a good idea for you. |
