Orders placed between mid-March and mid-June may take 3 weeks to ship. For faster service, order in the fall, an excellent time to plant. Orders made during the height of summer, a poor time to ship and plant, may be delayed until your temperatures are cool enough for shipping.

Typically considered a houseplant, Billbergia nutans has shown surprising hardiness, surviving, and even blooming, at 15-17F, zone 8b. Why an epiphitic Bromeliad from Brazil and points south would be that hardy, we don't know, except that it it grows at high altitude. It's normally a winter bloomer, but can be forced to bloom at any time. Narrow, arching leaves support panicles of multicolored flowers in pastel shades of yellow, pink, blue, and green, which last about a week. Grows to 20" tall, with indefinite spread.
